A Daniel Christian-brilliance denied Sydney Sixers a fourth BBL final appearance last season. The eventual champions, Melbourne Renegades, chased down 25 runs in final two overs to make it an all-Melbourne affair in the final. The Sixers, earlier, finished third in the table, winning eight of the 14 matches played.

Sixers have retained their foreign duo – England internationals James Vince and Tom Curran – for the new season. Vince, though only came in the second half of the 2018-19 season, averaged 52 fantasy points (per match). The other Englishman, Tom Curran, picked up the most fantasy points – 886 points – by an overseas player in BBL 08. He collected 50-plus fantasy points in eight matches.
The captain Moises Henriques will be keen to repeat the BBL 08 performance. He has already scored 453 runs in the 2019-20 Sheffield Shield. Henriques’ New South Wales and Sixers teammate Daniel Hughes, too, is piling up runs in Australia’s four-day tournament.
No Lyon, No Hazlewood – No Problem!

The inaugural BBL champions boast a strong bowling attack despite Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon missing the first few matches of BBL 09. Jackson Bird, Sean Abbott, and Steve O’Keefe have combined taken 48 wickets in the ongoing Sheffield Shield for their respective teams. Abbott, averaged 55 fantasy points (per match), while O’Keefe collected an average 48 fantasy points (per match) in BBL 08.
