My Winnings have crossed ₹12 Lakh in Fantasy Cricket

Posted on January 22, 2019

It is well believed that if you follow and work towards something religiously then the rewards are not going to stop themselves from coming your way. The same belief stands true for Fantasy Cricket as well because we have seen players, who take the game seriously, winning handsomely on HalaPlay, in their day-to-day life. It’s just a matter of time and consistency and once you get the two requirements ticked, no one can stop from appearing at top on the Leaderboard of thousands of Fantasy Cricket enthusiasts.

We are introducing you to one of our regular users, who took his time to cement his base on the platform and then gone on to win over ₹12 Lakh in Fantasy Cricket on HalaPlay. Read out the composition to know more about his memorable journey and some useful tactics for raising the competition level for your contemporaries.

Please do describe yourself to our readers. Where you grew up, what are you pursuing currently and what you did before playing Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS)?

I am Shankar Vasant Shingare (username: shankarshingare) from Pune, Maharashtra. I completed my Engineering in Information Technology and currently I’m working as a Software Engineer.

How did you come across HalaPlay and when did you start playing on it?

I have been playing Fantasy Cricket on HalaPlay since 5th Feb 2018. Before that I used to play on other platforms.

How has your DFS journey been till now? Tell us about few of your struggles and successes.

It has been pretty satisfying till now since the day I started playing on HalaPlay. As mentioned, I used to play on other platforms before but never really got the success as compared to what I got here.

Talking about the struggles, my wife used to complain a lot seeing the time I used to spend in the nights for the preparation and match analysis. Glad that everything is well managed now and I’ve made a habit of spending significant time on weekends for the research and analysis.

What kind of preparation and research goes behind drafting the teams?

I spend around 2 hours every night for the match analysis, that’s a sufficient time bracket for me to gather enough information for the upcoming match and draft teams well before the match commences.

Once lineup is out, I spend another 30 minutes to check the pitch/weather report and make necessary edits to the team (if any).

How do you pick the players? What factors do you generally consider?

I consider current form and consistency of the players. But these are not the only factors, I also look for past records and skillset of the two teams.

Then there are some players who perform well in certain conditions and against specific opposition, so I make it a point of not losing them and that sometimes creates a difference with the other players because most of them go with the players’ current form.

What is it that you generally look for in a player to be the Captain of your team?

It depends on the format of the game. Like for T20 cricket, my top preference would mostly be a top order batsman. For ODIs, I generally go with an All Rounder as they can give points in multiple ways and for Test cricket, I prefer a spinner or a fast bowler depending on the pitch.

Which was your best day on HalaPlay? What is it that keeps reminding you about it?
It was 6th November 2018, Chitwan Rhinos (CHI) vs Pokhara Paltan (POK) match in Nepal T20 Carnival where I won ₹37,000 from a single match. These low profile matches (with less known countries) have really helped me to earn more as there isn’t enough information available online and these matches are not present on all other platforms. There was another big moment recently, Dhaka Dynamites Vs Sylhet Sixers match in BPL T20 tournament where I invested ₹1,400 and won ₹21,000.
How has your experience been with the Season Passes and what is it that you like the most about them?
Simply Wow! Season Passes and Deposit offers are some of the great benefits you get on HalaPlay. It’s a very useful feature for the regular Fantasy Sports players. They add a lot of value and hence should be utilised the maximum one can.
Do you have any preferred leagues (the ones you play the most) on HalaPlay?

I play all the leagues where I can apply the ‘4+1/6+1 Offer’ by entering different team combinations, along with 3 member leagues.

What advice would you offer to a player new to DFS in terms of strategy?

Invest your money wisely would be the foremost advice for the newbies. Play on platforms where you get the lineups and the time to edit your teams after the toss because if you’ve chosen players who’re not in the playing XI then it’s highly likely that your chances of winning will marginally drop. That is why HalaPlay is seen as ‘The Stop’ for all Fantasy Sports freaks.

Most important thing, “Never give up, your day will surely come”.

Where do you see yourself down the road in regards to DFS? Do you want there to be a long-term thing for you?
As the results have been quite satisfying, I want to continue playing in the long run. My long term goal is to become a Sports Analyst for Cricket, after my retirement. It appears gettable now since I’m preparing for the same on a day-to-day basis, all thanks to Fantasy Cricket.
Do you also play and compete with your friends? If yes, how is that experience different from playing with the strangers?

I haven’t started playing with friends as yet but definitely plan to do that in the near future as I’ve referred HalaPlay to a lot of friends and quite a few of them have already started playing on it.
