A famous saying goes like “Good things take time, be patient”. Well, fair enough but who said that it always has to stand true. If you have empowering skills and have faith in yourself then you can very well defy these traditional beliefs because there is nothing that is Impossible. Recently we came across a story depicting a similar picture, it’s inspired by the journey of one of our elite users who has shown tremendous dedication and gone on to win ₹3.5 Lakh in Fantasy Cricket.
Usually, it takes quite sometime for players to get accustomed to the rules and criteria of the platform. Let us introduce you to someone who has conquered the space in like no time at all. Read on to know more about him as our team got some really insightful responses from him regarding his strategy and outlook for the game which are undoubtedly ‘really really’ important for all those who plan to play Fantasy Cricket on a regular basis.
Here it goes!
Please do describe yourself to our readers. Where you grew up, what are you pursuing currently and what you did before playing Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS)?
My name is Amish Bhoir (known as legend deavy on Halaplay). I am from a small village Vedhi in Palghar district (Maharashtra). I am pursuing Mechanical Engineering and currently in 3rd year.
How did you come across HalaPlay and when did you start playing on it?
I started playing on HalaPlay in April 2018 during IPL season. I was already a Fantasy Cricket player on other platforms and used to follow channels like Cricinformer for news related to Fantasy Cricket back then. From there I came to know about HalaPlay.
The most important thing HalaPlay caters to is the option for players to edit teams even after the toss and this is one of the big reasons that kept me glued to this platform over other Fantasy Sports websites.
How has your DFS journey been till now? Tell us about few of your struggles and successes.
I struggled for nearly six months to win on other Fantasy Sports platforms. On the other platforms, it’s mandatory for you to select and freeze your team one hour before the match starts.
But that’s not the case here, as you can change your team till the first ball is bowled. It’s a big benefit for all the Fantasy Cricket players because if you are generally available after that then you don’t really miss any player who is playing in the match.
Toss also plays a vital role in one sided matches. After getting used to HalaPlay, I left all other Fantasy Sports sites.
What kind of preparation and research goes behind drafting the teams?
I check the scorecards of all the previous matches (of the series). Even the pitch conditions matter a lot for selecting players in the team. Even if the weather forecast says that it might rain then the strategy changes completely.
How do you pick the players? What factors do you generally consider?
From my point of view, current form and past records are equally important. For example, in H2H leagues, you have to select players who are currently in form while in grand leagues you need to consider the past records as well. I play both small and big leagues and the criteria is quite different for both.
What is it that you generally look for in a player to be the Captain of your team?
I select the captain on the basis of pitch condition and the format of game. For Test cricket, I prefer a fast bowler or an all rounder as the Captain if the match is happening outside Asia, otherwise I go with a spin bowler or an all rounder. I rarely give Captaincy to a batsman in Test Cricket.
In ODIs, I give Captaincy to a good all rounder or a number 4 batsman. For the matches that are expected to be low scoring, I make bowler as the captain.
For T20 format, I select a batsman expected to bat in top 3 positions or allrounder as captain. Sometimes wicket keeper is also a good choice if he is batting in the top 3 positions as wicket keepers can give you points with their gloves also.
Which was your best day on HalaPlay? What is it that keeps reminding you about it?
I don’t really remember the exact day but I can definitely narrate the happenings of it. I had invested nearly ₹3,000 in a big league and I got around ₹78,000 as winning payout. The match was between China & Japan. I drafted 10 teams and joined the league of entry fee ₹199. The prize amount to 1st Rank was ₹1,00,000 but since it was shared with another player the payout got divided. Fortunately all my teams came in Top 20 in that league so the total profit summed out to be of ₹78000.
Do you also play and compete with your friends? If yes, how is that experience different from playing with the people you don’t know?
Generally we don’t prefer competing between us but yes we have tried it for like 2-3 times. We had competed in H2H league. I set some interesting rules like we will select players one by one. Like he will choose first player then I will choose another player then he will choose his second player and so on. Ultimately, his playing XI and my team of XI were totally different. We covered all players from the playing XI of the 2 teams. As per the record, he was won more than me.
How has your experience been with the Season Passes and what is it that you like the most about them?
Season Passes are beneficial for all the regular players on HalaPlay. They give you free entries in almost all the major leagues (like Monster, Esperanza, Double up and Reverse Monster). The best thing about season pass is that if you have missed the free entry of one match then it will be passed on to the next match.
Do you have any preferred leagues (the ones you play the most) on HalaPlay?
I play almost all kind of leagues. So personally I don’t have any specific league as favourite. The leagues played the most would be Reverse Fantasy leagues as I had earned my initial ₹5000 to ₹7000 payout by just playing reverse fantasy H2H leagues.
What advice would you offer to a player new to DFS in terms of strategy?
Just be consistent with your plan and strategy, your day will definitely come. As and when team progresses your confidence level boosts up and your strategy gets streamlined. Keep analysing the reasons of your loss on a regular basis as doing that will help you invest more wisely in the upcoming matches.
Where do you see yourself down the road in regards to DFS? Do you want there to be a long-term thing for you?
It surely is going to be a long term thing for me. DFS is already a part of my life as I have been playing it since the last 3 years. Fantasy Cricket has given great rewards to me and brought LIFE in my monotonous daily life. So the idea is to keep at it for as long as possible (forever I must say).
Not to mention, HalaPlay has played a big role in this journey and so I wish to be connected with it for a long long time.
