Fantasy Sports has surely impacted the lives of many in the recent few years. Cricket has a big involvement in it and is the major reason behind the massive following for fantasy games. Now, we’ll introduce you to one of our fantasy players who maintained the same spirit and managed to make a mark in this competitive space of indefinite fanatics. We got in touch with him to know more about his experiences gathered from and strategies applied in the game.
Read on to know his interesting responses, it will surely expose you to some insightful realities and useful learnings. Here it goes!
Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where you grew up, went to school, what you did before Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS)?
I am Dileep Reddy Pachipala, known as TEAM=1 on HalaPlay. I’m currently pursuing Chartered Accountancy. My home town is Manubolu, a small village in Nellore district (Andhra Pradesh). I have always been a big fan of sports (be it any sport) and now I am a smart Fantasy Cricket player too. It’s been almost 3 years now since I started playing. And by my experience, I can confidently say that,
The Best Thing you can do on your mobile phone is play FANTASY SPORTS.
When did you start playing on HalaPlay and how were you introduced to it?
I started playing on HalaPlay in December 2017 when one of my friend, Manvesh (another keen Fantasy Player) introduced It to me. Since then I have enjoyed a lot while playing on HalaPlay.
Tell us a bit about your Daily Fantasy journey. The struggles you had and successes.
In early days, I used to play with small amounts due to lack of knowledge of the points system and scoring criteria. Now, I’m thorough with the basics and hence completely understand the points system and so have started earning more profits. Currently, my total winning is over ₹7.5 Lakh.
What kind of preparation and research goes behind drafting an ideal team?
I usually follow Fantasy Cricket news app called Cric-Informer and my favourite Cricket App called Cricbuzz.
What is the criteria for choosing players (Current form, past records etc.)?
In my opinion, toss is very important while drafting a team. Let say, if a weaker team bats first against a strong team then I go with 4 bowler and top 3 batsmen of the stronger team.
Consistency is also a very important criteria to draft the best combination. You can’t choose a player by just seeing his performance in one match.
What is your strategy while choosing a captain for the team?
While choosing a captain, the only thing that comes to my mind is the Pitch. Once that is clear, according to its expected behaviour I take an All Rounder, as he can give me points from both bat and ball.
Which leagues are your favourite on HalaPlay?
I mainly prefer two kind of leagues, one that gives ₹1 lakh to 1st position and second, the ones that can give me most profit share.
Do you also play and compete with friends?
I haven’t started as yet but plan to start that soon because I have a feeling that it can get even more interesting.
Seeing that earning through DFS takes a lot of time and dedication, how do you balance your work life with playing DFS?
Well, managing the time between work life and DFS is quite vital for all the dedicated fantasy players I feel. Believe me, there are quite a few sleepless nights for me during the season. My younger brother who has good amount of cricket knowledge and game awareness also helps and supports me while drafting the best combination.
If you had one piece of advice to offer to a player new to DFS in terms of strategy, what would it be and why?
Start playing frugally in the initial stages of DFS. It will give you an idea of Fantasy Sports and help understand the points system which is very important in my opinion. Once that is done, then you can begin playing aggressively with the budget put in and accordingly draft the teams.
One famous saying that I always follow is, “When you don’t take risk then you fall in big risk”.
So those who want to compete in the world of fantasy sports should take risk and believe me, it will definitely get you rewards.
Where do you see yourself down the road in regards to DFS? Do you want there to be a long-term thing for you? What things do you hope to accomplish as a result of DFS success?
Definitely, I see myself as a long term Fantasy Player as it has given me handsome rewards. And I want to make it a point that whatever returns I get I invest them back in HalaPlay.
